Mmmmm. Roast chicken for dinner. This is going inside the chicken. Oranges, garlic, onion, pineapple sage. Yum, yum.
Yes holiday season is here again already. That means holiday parties and dinner. I love this time of year because as a foodie this is when I get to have tons of fun. But I still ask myself what to bring to the party? What to prepare for dinner? This one is always difficult for me. I want to bring something new and unique yet simple, elegant and delicious.
That is why I created a 2 part series on REAL Food Inspired Radio for the holiday season to help with ideas. In part I, MasterChef Reject offers elegant, delicious yet simple appetizer ideas to take to parties or serve at your own party. Part II is The Organic Wine Company offering wine pairings that go with the appetizer ideas offered by MasterChef Reject, as well as how to choose wines for the holidays, each season, the time of day, a particular meal and all year long.
This episode of REAL Food Inspired Radio is raw, real fun. It jumps out of the speakers with energy, inspiration, WOW filled with laughter and great ideas for the holidays. Be sure to tune to this episode of REAL Food Inspired Radio. I want to thank Janie and Derek for being so real, fun, outlandish and live out loud.
Janie Spanner, the MasterChef Reject may have been rejected from the master chef series in Australia, but Jennifer Hudson was also rejected by American Idol… and guess what, she won an Emmy. Janie tells her Master Chef Australia story on REAL Food Inspired Radio.
They offer super simple appetizer ideas for busy people for the holiday season. AND even more exciting they talk with me live from Australia. Also a surprise to me they tell you how to easily smoke meats even if you don’t have a smoker…by using a wok. Anyone can do this. But be sure to do it outside unless you want to set off the smoke alarms. Keep the lid on too.
Below is a list of the appetizers that Janie and Derek share for the holidays. Yum, yum. I am so excited to bring them to my holiday parties.
- Fried almonds with paprika and chili
- Smoked trout with fresh dill and creme fraiche
- Walnut Bread (adapted from a Richard Bertinet recipe from his book Dough)
- Witlof with fresh fig, gorgonzola and vincotto
- Asparagus spears in filo pastry (from Gourmet Traveler magazine)
Janie and Derek are soooooo busy check out what they are doing. They created the show, “MasterChef Reject” and it is funny as well as informative. Derek is the camera man, and Editor of the series while Janie is not only a pretty face BUT The Master Chef. Furthermore, they have started a food revolution in Australia. Jamie Oliver…take notice. What is a food revolution? It is cooking real foods for you and your family using MasterChef Rejects simple, delicious recipes from MasterChef Rejects website or facebook page. Then photographing the meal and posting it on MasterChef Rejects facebook page. Get in on the challenge, have fun and improve your health. Get your entire family and friends involved.
